We Give Books

I have always loved to read.  Reading is an adventure, allowing me to explore places, people, ideas and other times that I had not known.  Reading is the basis of  inspiration, opportunity and power.  It is a gift that should be available to all.  I have just discovered a program, We Give Books, which is an easy way for all of us to support literacy programs in the United States and around the world...and it is free!

Created by Penguin Group and The Pearson Foundation, the website offers the opportunity to read award-winning online picture books to children, up to the age of 10 and support your choice of several literacy campaigns around the world. You simply read the online book and We Give Books will donate a brand-new hardcover or paperback book to the organization of your choice.

The summer is a perfect time for exploring this program. The kids are on a break from school, with plenty of extra time. This is a great way to introduce them to a new discovery...reading books online! You have the pleasure of reading a new book with your child.  You also have the opportunity to make a difference in another child's life. I hope you all enjoy!
