The New Fall Palette

I drove to the shop this morning with the sun shining on the beautiful rolling hills of western Pennsylvania.  The landscape was softened by the warm autumn color palette... the golden yellows, the brilliant reds, the burnt oranges and browns. No wonder, we love to bring these colors into our homes this time of year.  This season's tablecloths arrived in all of these colors, but with a few colors not seen every year....purple and grey!

You can see the new color combinations in Garnier Thiebaut Mille Couleurs Feu - traditional golden yellow, oranges and reds but purple, aubergine and lavender added.  Also Garnier Thiebaut Mille Wax Cendre- fabulous greys and taupes.  We have this on the front table in our shop - which is filled with the newly arrived Vietnamese lacquer trays by J. Fleet Designs.  These trays which will be added to our website by Friday, feature silver elephants on a greyish purple lacquer background. Stunning! There is also a collection with golden jumping frogs on a chocolate background - looks fabulous on the grey, particularly with the taupe stripe running through the tablecloth.

The new Le Jacquard Francais Samarkand Kumquat includes both the traditional orange with a border of aubergine!  Actually, these are traditonal fall colors - many of the red leaves do become a beautiful deep brownish-purple.  Please bear with me, I am at a bit of a loss describing the wide array of autumn colors.

The new Jose Houel for Nydel Elipse Prune is simply stunning...clear purple, orange and red with a border of lavender. Looks wonderful with white dinnerware.  And the  Ambiance Figue is a clear purple, but is subtle and elegant and very compatible with lots of dinnerware patterns.

Purples and greys are here to stay!  They are soft, lovely and a bit unexpected and when combined with the traditional colors of fall, add a whole new dimension to our table!
