Once upon a time dining tables were  somewhat "standard"...round, rectangle or oval.  The selection of tablecloths was limited as well, both in sizes and materials.  Of course, dining rooms were also somewhat "standard". 

Today, homes are larger, entertaining spaces have expanded and dining tables have increased in size as well.  Custom tables designed specifically for you have become more available and affordable. You choose the materials, the size and the shape that is perfect for your room and entertaining needs.  Even so, there have been limited options for finding beautiful tablecloths to fit that beautiful new table, which is not the standard width or length...until now.  

At Tournesol, we offer a wide variety of  table linens for non-standard size tables. Options include tablecloths in the most current fabrics and designs, including new easy-care fabrics which are stain resistant and require little or no ironing.  Tablecloth collections are presented twice a year by the world's finest makers so you are sure to find the latest colors and styles for the large table.   There is no need to sacrifice quality or style for a special size tablecloth. 

Standard Tablecloth Sizes   Standard rectangle tables are generally 42" - 48" wide.  Therefore, standard tablecloth widths are usually between 67" and 71".  Standard tablecloth lengths are generally 98", 118" and 126".  It will be in this range that you will find the largest tablecloth selection, Tablecloths and Matching Napkins.   

A standard 67" - 71" square tablecloth will work well for a  48"-55" round table.

 Extra-Long and Extra-Wide Standard Sizes  At times, however, designers include longer or wider patterns in their collections.  In order to make your search for your tablecloth easier, we have created a separate section for Extra-Long & Extra-Wide Standard Tablecloths.  The category includes standard tablecloths lengths over 144" and widths greater than 72".  The finest French jacquard makers, Le Jacquard Francais and Garnier Thiebaut, offer many styles that are "Extra-Long", as does Settings by Mona  (including their new Easy Care Linen) and Lisa Corti.  Bodrum offers many styles 144" long and Linen Way offers 142", 158" and even 165" long tablecloths!  

"Extra-Wide" standard selections are available in Le Jacquard Francais  (86" and 94" wide) and Garnier Thiebaut (93" wide).

If you have a 60" - 75"  round table ...a square tablecloth in one of these Extra-Wide tablecloths should work well.

Oval Tablecloths  If you have an oval table, we generally use a rectangle tablecloth. Only a few tablecloths are available in oval, even in custom sizes.  Jose Houel for Nydel, however,  does offer custom oval tablecloths in the wonderful Frisson fabric.  Garnier Thiebaut also offers custom oval tablecloths in many of their patterns.

Round Tablecloths  Round tables are wonderful for creating a warm and conversational dinner table.  You will find suggestions for finding the perfect size tablecloth in our article, Dressing Your Round Table.   Explore our Round Tablecloth section for standard sizes. If you table is 60" round, which comfortably seats 6-8, you can explore Extra-Wide Tablecloths  for a 84" square tablecloth.

You can build a wonderful table linen wardrobe, with a cloth for every occassion.

Choose a Garnier Thiebaut "coated" tablecloth  for outdoors or when entertaining children. Simply wipe off!  The fabulous Jose Houel for Nydel polyester looks and feels  like silk, is one of our most popular tablecloths.  It is perfect year round, can be dressed up or down.  It is machine washable, hang to dry and virtually stain resistant!

Custom sizes are generally a bit more expensive that standard sizes.  But you will have a fabulous tablecloth that you will enjoy for years to come.
