QWhat does Tournesol mean?
A

Tournesol means sunflower in French..."turn to the sun".  This name was chosen for a few reasons.  First...it sounds beautiful!  The sunflower is one of only a few crops native to North America that has become popular around the world.  It is known not only for its beauty but also for its practical food and medicinal purposes. Native Americans used wild sunflowers for 8,000 years and have been cultivating them since 1,000 BC. Sunflower seeds are eaten, ground for flour and crushed for oil.  The Aztecs worshipped the sunflower, it is the official flower of Russia, and the state flower of Kansas. It is a bright sunny flower that is  bright, optimistic and always following the sun!  

QWhat is your return policy?

We want you to be thrilled with your purchase!  If, for any reason you are not, we will accept authorized returns for Exchange, Store Credit or Credit in the manner in which the purchase was made, such as the credit card that was used for the purchase.

You must notify us within 7 days of receipt of your purchases, of your intention to return any item. Please contact us at Tournesol@TournesolGifts.com for a Return Authorization Number which must be included in the return package together with sales receipts and all other documents that you received.  All items must unused and returned in their original condition and packaging.

You are responsible for payment of shipping costs to return the package to us. We recommend that you insure the package to avoid additional costs to you.  We suggest that you also keep the tracking number for your reference.

If you are returning an item that was delivered to us as a result of our error, we will pay all costs associated with shipment of the item back to us.

If you are returning an item that was shipped to you on a Free Shipping promotion, we will deduct the shipping amount, according to the shipping rates below for items that do not offer free shipping, from the amount that you will receive in credit.

QWhat is a "drop"?
A

"Drop" refers to the extent that a tablecloth overhangs a table. A long drop is considered more formal and luxurious.. A drop of 12" - 18" is recommended for  formal dinner tables. A drop of 12" is considered a standard drop, since the distance from the top of the table to the top of the chair is 12".  Nevertheless, many people prefer less of a drop - 8" - 10" - which is quite acceptable.  The key is that the table looks balanced and not "skimpy".  If you are purchasing a standard tablecloth your choice of drop is limited to the size of your table and the tablecloth that you love! Ultimately, the decision is yours!

QHow can I be sure that the color of the tablecloth that I see on my computer monitor is the actual color of the tablecloth?

The reality is that computer monitors do vary in the way that colors are projected.   At Tournesol we do review the photographs for accurate color on several monitors, which still  may not match yours!  Some fabrics are more difficult than others to capture, because of light reflections. If we feel that a color may be misleading, we make a "Color Comment" on the item.  This is our attempt to clarify for you the true color of the fabric. 

On many of our fabrics, you have the choice to order a sample swatch of the fabric at no cost that we will mail to you.

QAre there easy care tablecloths?

Yes!   Today's tablecloth designers are well aware that we are all leading very busy lives but also want to set a lovely table. Certainly 100% linen tablecloths require the most care, however, the use of products such as Linen Wash do make ironing much easier.  Almost all of of the fine table linens that Tournesol offers are 100% cotton. Thus, they can be washed in your machine and either tumbled dry on a low setting or simply line dried.  Most tablecloths require little or no ironing. An increasing number tablecloths are stain resistant, easier to clean and more colorfast. 

Actually, there are many tablecloths extremely easy care!   For example, we have a wonderful selection of cotton tablecloths that have been coated with an acrylic which repels water...liquids simply bead up!  These coated tablecloths can be simply sponged clean. Until you touch these cloths, you do not know they are not cotton!  We have added a section specifically for  for Coated Tablecloths to make your selection easier!  These tablecloths can be machine washed ...but the reality is that you simply wipe clean....there is little need to launder!   

For a more formal table, Jose Houel for Nydel offers the most exquisite tablecloths in the the most fabulous French polyester fabric.  It looks like silk, but is not!  You simply machine wash on gentle cycle and hang to dry. Availabe in beautiful patterns and solids, this tablecloth is one of the most popular in the shop.  At least half of the customers who purchase one, will purchase another. They are that easy!

Tournesol offers the finest of table linens by makers that are proud of their fabrics..and better fabrics last longer, release stains when soaked and will stay looking new longer!

QHow long will it take my item to ship?

We want you to have a good idea when you will receive your purchase. When you are adding most items to your cart, you will see an estimated shipping date.  When we receive your order, we will contact you by e-mail and give you a more accurate estimate of the date your purchase will ship from our shop.  We will also provide a more accurate idea of when you can expect to receive your purchase, depending on where you live and how your items are shipped. 

QWill I be charged Sales Tax?
A

If you live in Pennsylvania, you will be charged 7% Sales Tax.  Otherwise, no tax will be included in the amount that you pay.

QDo you offer items in your Pittsburgh shop that are not offered online?

Yes. If you like the selection of items at Tournesol Online, you will probably like other items that we have in stock in our Pittsburgh shop. You can contact our Concierge and she will help you find what you are looking for!

QCan I purchase something even though it is not shown online?
A

Yes.  We can obtain any item that any of our designers offer, whether you see it on Tournesol Online or somewhere else.  The item that you are searching for may even be in our Pittsburgh shop! Just contact our Concierge and she will help you find exactly what you are looking for. She can also suggest items that you might not have known about, but that you might enjoy!

QDo you have a Personal Shopper?

Although we do not designate any our staff as a "personal shopper" - we all are committed to helping you find something that you will be thrilled with for your occasion. Our Concierge is there to provide suggestions, guidance and whatever help you need to find what you want. You may also call our toll free number and speak to any of our knowledgeable staff who will be pleased to speak with you. Our goal is to make your experience at Tournesol Online as close as we can to the experience you would have if you walked into our shop on Ivy Street!

QCan I pick up my order at Tournesol on Walnut Street in Sewickley?

Yes!  At checkout, you can select "Pick up at Tournesol in Sewickley".  We will notify you by email when your items will be ready for pick up.
