Glassmakers have settled in the south of France since the 18th century because of the pine forests. These craftsmen did not regard their job as fine art. They simply produced objects for everyday life: oil lamps, small bottles with long spouts, jars or thick glass pestles to pound garlic for the Provencal dishes.

Today master glassmakers craft the original glass known for its "bubbles" - Biot glass. Each piece is filled with tiny bubbles that capture the sunlight or moonlight or firelight like no other glass.
